who are we?

Living Room Studio is a specialised upholstery workshop based in Petone, Lower Hutt. We offer a full range of upholstery services to customers throughout the Wellington region.

Opened in 2026 by experienced upholsterer and furniture maker Mike Somerville, the studio follows in the tradition of the Living Room upholstery business in Kaiwharawhara, Wellington, where Mike was head upholsterer for over 20 years.

The Living Room name is well known to Wellingtonians and it carries a reputation for the very best in craftmanship, care and integrity. For three decades we’ve made it our mission to create, restore and customise furniture to the highest possible standard. Living Room Studio is bringing this proud tradition into a new era.
